Through this project an additional 6 kilometers on four member properties along the Lachlan River and its Boorowa River / Hovells Creek tributaries was fenced to exclude domestic livestock from sensitive riverine environment, address streambank erosion and to reduce silt and salt load in the Lachlan river system. Natural revegetation, through removal of grazing pressure, was supported by endemic tree / shrub tubestock plantings and direct seeding where equipment access was possible.

This was hands-on project by farmer Landcare / landholder members. It built on Landcare work undertaken with National Heritage Trust and Lachlan Catchment Management Authority support over 2005 - 2008 as part of a regional plan to establish cross property biodiversity and wildlife habitat corridors. The project improved the knowledge, skills and engagement of farmer landholders, and involved volunteer landcarers from outside the region.

The project was partially funded through a $19,832 Federal Government Caring for Our Country Community Action Grant and matching contributions in cash and in kind by the participating landholders.
