This was stage 2 of a project initiated earlier in 2004 tocontribute to catchment stabilisation, biodiversity and water quality improvement in the lower Boorowa River / Hovells Creek area at Graham, NSW, through on-ground landcare activity on five member properties and group learning.
An additional 2.2km of fencing was erected to control livestock access to the Boorowa and Lachlan Rivers, a 2 hectare area of gully erosion fenced to promote re-establishment of perennial vegetation, and 1200 native trees and shrubs planted within the eroded area and within biodiversity corridors to link areas of remnant vegetation.
The onset of regional drought and the sale of one of the project properties intervened and limited the on-ground works planned within the project.
This project was funded through a $6,727 Federal Government National Heritage Trust Grant plus cash and in-kind contributions from participating landholders an neighbours estimated at $15,705.
